The First Scientific Conference on Addressing Poverty and Unemployment in Iraq was held in the capital, Baghdad, on May 6, 2026, under the joint patronage of the Ministries of Planning and Higher Education and Scientific Research, and under the supervision of His Excellency the Minister of Planning, Dr. Khalid Battal Al-Najm, His Excellency the Minister of Education, Dr. Helou Al-Askari, Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dahd, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Chairman of the Supreme Council of Scientific Societies.
The conference witnessed broad participation from a large number of presidents of public and private Iraqi universities, along with an elite group of academics and researchers specialized in economic and social fields.
Al-Kut University also participated in the conference activities, represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Talib Zaidan Al-Mousawi, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Vice Chairman of the Supreme Council of Iraqi Scientific Societies, contributing to the discussion of scientific axes aimed at finding realistic and sustainable solutions to the problems of poverty and unemployment in Iraq.
This conference comes within the framework of national efforts aimed at enhancing integration between academic knowledge and public policy-making, contributing to achieving comprehensive and sustainable development.
