The reality of cybersecurity.
The Iraqi Association for Information and Communications Technology (IAICT), in cooperation with the Digital Development Center (DDC) and in coordination with the Iraqi Telecom and IT Gathering (ITIG), organized a virtual scientific symposium titled: "Cybersecurity Between Reality and Exaggeration," presented by information security expert Mustafa Diaa.
The symposium reviewed the gap between the common perception of breaches and practical reality, noting that the majority of cyber attacks succeed due to excessive trust and weak procedures, rather than reliance on complex techniques. It also addressed how attacks originate within institutions, and the most prominent misconceptions that reinforce a false sense of security.
The symposium emphasized the necessity of combining behavioral awareness with technical solutions, presenting practical steps to reduce risks, and highlighting the importance of the human element as the first line of defense in the cybersecurity system.
