The Iraqi Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, under the patronage of the Al-Bajaa Scientific Office, held a scientific symposium titled “Cataract Surgeon’s Day” yesterday, Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Heart of the World Hotel, attended by a select group of ophthalmologists from various Iraqi governorates.
The symposium included a series of valuable scientific lectures delivered by specialized professors in ophthalmology and eye surgery, namely:

The President of the Society, Dr. Hussam Al-Najjar, also delivered a speech covering several topics, most notably:
First:
Expressing thanks and appreciation to the attending professors and doctors, with special mention of each of the following:
Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Yaqoubi, Prof. Dr. Najah Al-Quraishi, Dr. Rajab Al-Alousi, Dr. Fares Riyad, Dr. Khalil Al-Jubouri, Dr. Fares Al-Bakri, Dr. Khudhair Al-Taie, Dr. Aqeel Al-Asadi, Dr. Haider Al-Janabi, Dr. Iman, Dr. Ahmed.
In addition to colleagues from the governorates of: Karbala, Kirkuk, Nasiriyah, Anbar, Diwaniyah, Wasit, Najaf, and Erbil, with the number of attendees reaching 250 doctors.
Second:
Emphasizing commitment to the scheduled date for the sixth Mokat Conference, which will see the participation of a select group of Arab and foreign doctors, potentially reaching 20 participants, while enhancing the role of governorates in scientific and social aspects.
Third:
Presenting the achievements of the Society over the 100 days since the new administrative body assumed its duties.
Fourth:
Highlighting the distinguished participation in the MEUM Conference – Dubai, through delivering 12 lectures, contributing to session coordination, and managing a training course for a surgical skill under the supervision of the Society’s doctors.
Fifth:
Commending the great efforts made by the Society’s administrative body in managing scientific activities, organizing external participations, maintaining consistent attendance, and holding regular meetings, reflecting a spirit of responsibility and harmony among its members.
At the conclusion of the symposium, the Society extends its thanks and appreciation to the lecturing professors for the rich and useful information they provided, and to all the esteemed attendees, reaffirming its commitment to continuing the organization of scientific events that contribute to enhancing the expertise and knowledge of ophthalmologists.
