The Karbala office of the Iraqi Association for Information and Communications Technology (IAICT) organized a specialized in-person workshop at the Engineers Syndicate Hall, Karbala Branch, titled "Spectrum Management During Million-Pilgrim Visits," with the participation of a number of specialists and relevant authorities.

The workshop included a lecture delivered by Dr. Mithaq Talib, Director of the Media and Communications Commission office in Karbala, in the presence of the Head of the Engineers Syndicate, Engineer Muhammad Fadil. The efforts of the commission in organizing and managing the frequency spectrum during major religious pilgrimages were reviewed, in coordination with government institutions and mobile phone companies, within the city center and the axes leading to it.

The lecturer also emphasized the necessity for all institutions to commit to using licensed devices and adhere to regulatory regulations, to avoid the impact of non-compliant devices such as jamming tools, drone interception systems, or equipment operating on irregular frequencies, as they cause disruption or interruption of security, military, and health services.

The attendees praised the role of mobile phone companies in supporting the Arbaeen pilgrimage by deploying permanent and temporary towers, upgrading infrastructure, and adopting advanced technologies to ensure communication quality during the millions-strong crowds.

The workshop concluded with a number of recommendations, most notably forming a coordination team or operations room to manage the frequency spectrum, and activating mechanisms to reduce interference between used devices, especially by supporting forces and institutions operating during the pilgrimage.
