The Iraqi Association for Information and Communications Technology (IAICT) participated in the preparatory workshop for Iraq Technology Week, scheduled to be held from May 14–15, 2026, coinciding with the celebration of World Telecommunication Day, which falls on May 17 each year. The workshop was attended by the Association's Secretary-General, Dr. Yasser Al-Jawhar, along with the participation of several governmental, professional, and technical entities.

The University of Information and Communications Technology hosted the workshop proceedings, with representatives from the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Communications, the Media and Communications Commission, the Iraqi Engineers Syndicate, the Iraqi Programmers Syndicate, Digital World Company, the Iraqi Association for Computer and Informatics Technology, and the Iraqi Communications and Information Technology Assembly.

The workshop discussed the technical and organizational aspects of the event, including preparations for discussion panels, identifying the specialized themes to be presented during the week's activities, in addition to exploring ways to ensure the event's success in reflecting the importance of the communications and information technology sector in supporting the digital economy.

The organization of Iraq Technology Week, coinciding with World Telecommunication Day, underscores the significance of this vital sector in achieving sustainable development, promoting digital transformation, bridging the digital divide, and enhancing partnerships among various stakeholders, in line with global trends in technology and communications.
