The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research held a workshop on the prospects of scientific research in Iraq and the requirements for developing its funding system and priorities in light of current challenges and global knowledge changes.

The attendees, including the Chairman of the National Investment Authority, the Mayor of Baghdad, the Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Education Development in Iraq, deputy ministers, the Chairman of the Scientific Research Authority, university presidents, assistants, general directors, and a select group of researchers, discussed during the workshop held at the Scientific Research Authority the patterns of joint cooperation and areas of scientific engagement among state institutions.

The Deputy Minister for Scientific Research Affairs, Dr. Haider Abd Dhahd, presented a detailed overview of the national priorities for scientific research in Iraq and the indicator of the needs of ministries and institutions in the fields of innovation, leadership, and specialized scientific research.

The workshop featured a speech by the Chairman of the Scientific Research Authority and a number of proposals related to providing solutions and addressing developmental problems through productive scientific research provided by the postgraduate studies environment in Iraqi universities.
