The Medical Associations Forum in Basra discusses the reality of professional work and emphasizes the necessity of activating the role of scientific associations.

Today, praise be to God, the scientific forum of medical associations was held in Basra Governorate, attended by a number of prominent academic and professional figures, led by the President of the Southern Technical University, the Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Basra, the Head of the Iraqi Medical Association Branch in Basra, and the President of the Arab Council for Health Specialties, within the framework of supporting scientific and professional work and enhancing the role of medical and health associations in developing the health sector.

The forum witnessed important discussions on the reality of the work of scientific associations and mechanisms for improving their performance in line with the requirements of the current stage, in addition to emphasizing the importance of enhancing cooperation and communication between health and academic institutions.

While the host association provided all participation requirements, including accommodation and transportation costs, regret was expressed over the limited attendance by the heads of medical and health associations, as only four association heads participated, in addition to the absence of members of the administrative bodies of those associations, which was considered an indicator of weak interaction and lack of seriousness on the part of some entities.

The forum organizers indicated that, based on the directives of the Deputy Minister, the feasibility of continuing some associations will be reconsidered, with a comprehensive evaluation of their performance to be conducted in the near future, with the aim of ensuring the effectiveness of institutional work and achieving the desired scientific and professional goals.
