IAICT and ITIG organize an online lecture on digital transformation in Iraq.
The Iraqi Association for Information and Communications Technology (IAICT), in cooperation with the Iraqi Information Technology Group (ITIG), organized an online lecture via the Zoom platform titled:
"Digital Transformation in Iraqi Institutions: Steps, Obstacles, and Roadmap."
The lecture was presented by Professor Mahdi Nafea Al-Ajwad, Regional Sales Manager for SAP in Iraq, with the attendance of representatives from government departments, local companies, and specialized academics.
The seminar addressed the most prominent obstacles to digital transformation in Iraq, foremost among them the absence of regulatory legislation, resistance to change within institutions, bureaucracy, weak institutional integration, as well as concerns related to data security and fear of breaches. It also highlighted the phenomenon of so-called "digital islands" resulting from the lack of interconnection between government institution systems.
Al-Ajwad presented a practical six-step strategy to support comprehensive digital transformation in Iraq, alongside providing applied models of SAP's experiences in countries in the region, and introducing the company's initiative to support graduates through the SAP University Alliance to equip academic institutions with curricula and licenses.
The seminar witnessed active interventions, most notably from the Director of the National Data Center, Dr. Ammar Hussein Al-Wasiti, who affirmed the Prime Minister's support for the digital transformation path and praised the lecturer's efforts and the importance of partnership with the private sector.
