Convening of the First Meeting of the Supreme Council of Scientific Societies for the Year 2025
The Supreme Council of Scientific Societies held its first meeting on February 12, 2025, attended by Professor Dr. Haider Abd Dhahed, President of the Supreme Council of Scientific Societies; Assistant Professor Dr. Talib Al-Mousawi, Vice President of the Supreme Council of Scientific Societies; Professor Dr. Taghreed Al-Haidari, Secretary of the Council; and Dr. Haider Jumaa, Head of the Scientific Societies Division at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The meeting was held within the framework of organizing and developing the working mechanisms of scientific societies, in accordance with the amended Scientific Societies Law No. 55 of 1981, where a number of main axes were discussed, including:
• Mechanisms for supporting scientific research and enhancing the role of societies in developing academic momentum.
• Ways of cooperation between scientific societies and academic institutions to enhance joint research projects.
• Developing strategic plans to raise the scientific and administrative performance efficiency of societies in line with modern trends in research and development.
The attendees emphasized the importance of the Council's role in elevating the scientific and technical level of societies, and enhancing partnership between the academic and industrial sectors to support innovation and development in various fields.
This meeting is considered an important step towards organizing the work of scientific societies according to an integrated vision aimed at achieving the strategic goals of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and ensuring the sustainability of academic and scientific growth in Iraq.
And setting the dates for the meetings of the Supreme Council and the General Assembly.
